It seems to be firmware update time, with the Canon EOS 5D Mark III getting another update to resolve several “phenomena” found in earlier versions of the EOS 5D Mark III firmware. Personally I have not experienced any of these myself so far with my EOS 5D Mark III.

Firmware Version 1.1.3 is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.1.2. If the camera’s firmware is already Version 1.1.3, it is not necessary to download this firmware. Firmware Version 1.2.1 is for cameras with firmware version 1.2.0 or earlier. If the camera’s firmware is already version 1.2.1, it is not necessary to update the firmware. Notes: Once the EOS 5D Mark III camera is updated to version 1.2.1, it cannot be restored to a previous firmware version (Version 1.0.7 through 1.1.3). Firmware Version 1.2.1 is for cameras with firmware version 1.2.0 or earlier. If the camera’s firmware is already version 1.2.1, it is not necessary to update the firmware. Notes: Once the EOS 5D Mark III camera is updated to version 1.2.1, it cannot be restored to a previous firmware version (Version 1.0.7 through 1.1.3).
Canon says that firmware Version 1.2.3 incorporates the following improvements and fixes.
